Remote Education: A Success Story

What a joy it has been to be a Lecturer in the Business Administration Department for the School of Business at CUNY’s Medgar Evers College since 2018. I have worked in both business and education for the past 25 years.


During that time, I earned an Executive MBA and a second master’s degree in management and certification for online teaching from LMS (Learning Management System) Blackboard and Title IX, Title VII, FERPA, ADA and 504 certifications. My career began in education and non-profit organizations then I shifted to corporate banking compliance operations, and full circle back to education.

Teaching has by far been my greatest fulfillment inherently. My mother was a teacher, and I remember sitting in the back of her classroom watching her students learn music. I always wanted to teach and show my love for business at the same time. Now, I am fulfilling my dream and have become a “Professor Bee”. Pre-covid I would buzz around campus, making my way to teach my five in-person courses, some twice weekly for a total of nine times a week. Over the past few years, I have built an open and familiar relationship with my students. I was building a rapport with the newer students and enjoying getting to know them and have them assist to move forward with upcoming course subjects and relatable materials. I loved getting a “read of the room” and the challenge of making them smile while learning.


Then everything changed.


During COVID-19 we were forced to switch to distance learning even before NYC school.......
